Many people do not have the opportunity to enjoy boating. The main reason is the extremely high cost of boat ownership. There are many expenses including insurance, registration, dock fees, storage fees, inventory, maintenance, and electronics. The average cost is approximately 10K a year.

Another reason that prohibits boat ownership is the investment of the owner's personal time. The owner spends a lot of time working on the boat, trailing it back and forth to the dealer for maintenance. If the boat lives on a trailer there is an excessive amounts of time needed to prepare, trailer, launch, load, clean up and store the boat.
